Saturday, we had a family gathering at my cousin Gene's place~ it's an early celebration for his bday~ :) he prepared a Korean hot pot dinner for us~~ :P

i LOVE the salmon sashimi!!! very very fresh~~~~

very delicious... so full after dinner *touching my big tummy*... ( `3' )

First destination: Southbrook Vineyards, just open a month ago... :) their fruit wine was quite tasty... :P

Second Destination: Stratus Vineyard, got the best vineyards view and elegant interior design, we tired their pear flavor ice wine... it's delicious~ love it... but didn't buy one... it's too expensive~ hehe

Last Destination: Jackson-Triggs Niagara Estate, the largest wineries among the three... we also had a wine tour there... tour fee included wine tasting session.. :) (i like their white wine more than red wine, the ice wine was TOO sweet...)

Never been to any wineries b4... it was an exciting visit and the wine tasting was fun!! Niagara on the lake is very beautiful and relaxing, great choice for a summer getaway :) i would love to come back again~~

大自然之旅

after this summer adventure in Bruce Peninsula... i truly started to LOVE the NATURE!! even though hiking was kind of tired and walking on the muddy trails messed up my converse (i need a pair of hiking shoes now!!)... but it was fun and excited~~~ after an exhausted walk and we can see a beautiful view... it's all worth it!!

The lake views was my favorite.... the crystal clear water just peaceful and refreshing... i would love to go back again... maybe wait til my brother comes back to Toronto, we can go there and walk the flowerpot island and Bruce Trail again!!!

Thanks hun for an awesome vacation... i had a lot of fun with you in the woods and beside the lakes... following the map and drive our mini to explore all the attractions, then taking beautiful pictures with our DSLR and tripod was so much fun, hahahha... it was a very special and memorable trip... thanks a lot... i love you!

that's my first time to have homemade lobsters and get my hands dirty while ripping the head and shell off... damn... it's hard but worth it.... the lobster taste great... we also serve it with melted butter... very juicy and fresh!

me and hun was watching the news during dinner as usual, there's a shocking news about Micheal Jackson... he passed away... i can't believe that... i felt a bit sad and 可惜... :(

My family loves MJ... my parents loves to watch his videos, me and my brother kind of grow with his songs...

we had two LDs (laser disc) of MJ's videos (from 1993 and 1995), King of Pop classics of all time... i found those at the basement...

小黑與我 update IV

小黑 didn't come to eat and drink... i haven't see her for few days... i guess she and her babies are gone... they moved to place...

me and hun went to the mall the other day, walked by a pet shop and saw some black kittens that looks similar to 小黑's babies... i missed them so much... :(

My best friend is back to Toronto for vacation~ she got me a little gift... and i LOVE it!!

i called her 小白.... sigh.... "一解思貓之情..."

蜜汁蒜香排骨
cut the 排骨 in pieces, then put them into boiling water and let the fat and blood washed out...after that, put 1/4 onion and little garlic together with the 排骨 and cook it with the sauce for 1 and a half hour (medium heat)... wait til the sauce get thick then turn off the heat~~

ready to serve!! this 蜜汁蒜香排骨 turns out better than the 數字排骨 (see that on 每星期~ 煮•食 I)

finally i caught a shot of the white and gray one :)

me and hun talked to our neighbor and he said he's been feeding 小黑 and her babies also... 小黑 born her babies almost 4 weeks ago, there's supposed to be 6 kittens but one of them got killed by a raccoon one nite :(

now only 5 left~

i guess 小黑 felt more secure in my backyard now, so she let her babies came out to play and drink my water :)

the black kitten is SO CUTE!! i wanna keep one... sigh... but i can't...

i found out 小黑 is actually a MOM!!

this morning when i went out to put some food for her to eat, i saw 2 small black and 1 white and gray kittens!!!!... i didn't get to take a picture of the white and gray one... but i took the rest of them :O

and then after i saw 小黑 ate her food and lay down to rest.. i saw ONE MORE black kitten came out!!! omg...
so today i see 1 black adult cat, 3 black kittens and 1 white and gray kitten in total~! i guess they already feel safe around here and mommy let the kids out to play...

There is a black cat wandering in my backyard for almost a week, i m not sure where he came from... the first time i saw him was last friday... he was quite energetic at that time, but yesterday i saw him laying on my backyard again and he seems like losing energy... i guess he's hungry and a bit dehydrated... so i gave him some cat food and water...

now he's doing fine but his body looks a bit filthy though...

this week i made the 粟米紅蘿蔔雞湯 again... and i cooked 粟米冬菇肉粒飯 for myself :) i used chicken breast... it has less fat! i steam the seasoned 冬菇 first... then fried the chicken bits...
then mixed them together with the cream corn, mushroom... and at the end add an egg and stir....
ready to serve!
simple "碟頭飯" :P i can have the rest for lunch tomorrow!

the next day, we went to the Toronto Zoo~ it was way exciting than i thought!! i touched the stingray, they are so gentle and friendly! they look like flying with their wings~~~$3 for the stingray bay admission, absolutely worth it for such a memorable experience!

the jelly fish was so beautiful~ it kind of reflecting the light when i m taking the pictures...

this little chipmunk was following us!! :D so cute!

i never see a REAL Giraffe b4, totally amazing...

she was my favorite animal in the Zoo... omg.... i miss her!! i dont know how to explain but when i m looking at her, she gave me an emotive feeling ... kind of sentimental...

the last time i went to a zoo, i guess it was back in my childhood... the zoo in HK was way smaller than this one...

finally we spent almost 7 hours to see all the pavilions and indoor exhibits in the zoo... yes, i was extremely tired but i did have a lot of fun to see all the beautiful creatures around the world with rosa and hun~

椰子紅蘿蔔雞湯this week, my friend introduced T&T's "soup pack" for me, there are many kind of soup for me to choose, and i decided to try the 椰子紅蘿蔔雞湯~ it tastes really good!! :P but next time i really have to beware of the Best Before Date on the package, cos when i back home with the soup pack, i found out it will expired next day~ but lucky the soup turned out ok!

黑椒雞柳炒甜豆 + 豆豉炒通菜

豆豉炒通菜 was one of hun's favorite :) hehe~~ and the 黑椒雞柳炒甜豆, i over cooked the beans, so they were not crunchy!! :( hun doesn't really like beans, but he loves the black pepper sauce and chicken though~

Yesterday, we went to a VERY FANCY fine dinning restaurant called The David Duncan House to celebrate a friend's birthday... hehehheh he's so lucky to have such a wonderful gf to plan a nice dinner and surprised for him~ :)

This restaurant was incredible, like i never been to any fine dinning like this... the exterior of the house is beautiful and the interior was like....WOW!! it's so glamorous!! above my head, it's the sparkling antique chandeliers hanging there and most of all, i m surrounding by the Art Nouveau interior design and decorations!!! (personally, i love everything about Art Nouveau, it's one of my favorite art period of all time!!!) i can't stop looking around and taking pictures... it was amazing... that's all i can say :D

the food was good but the price was........ quite EXPENSIVE though....

i love this restaurant and highly recommeded to go for a special occaions dinner with your love ones :)

羅宋湯 + 西蘭花炒牛肉 + 臘腸炒椰菜

i made 羅宋湯 and 臘腸炒椰菜 this week cos i really missed my mom!! these soup and dish are always my favorite!! hun said the soup i made should drink it the day after i make it... taste much better~

i used half 椰菜 for the soup and half for the dish...i just found 1 臘腸 left in the fridge... haha should put more next time!

西蘭花炒牛肉 was surprising good! i bought a pack of good quality beef this time and made a special sauce to cook with it! (secret recipe ar!! *wink wink*) it was my first time to cook beef and actually turns out delicious~~ :P

This week, i made 苦瓜湯... hun's mom always made this soup at home... and i asked her for the recipe... it takes a lot of time to prepare ga...

clean the 苦瓜's seeds, seasoned ground pork and "fun see" mixture with salt, black pepper, a little sugar and soy sauce...
put the seasoned ground pork into the 苦瓜...
put them into boiled chicken stock and boil for 1 and a half hour... then add salt and sugar before serve...
done~! (put the soup over night and serve next day will taste better!)

p.s. must mix "fun see" with the pork cos if u just put ground pork in the middle, the meat will separate from the 苦瓜 after the soup boiled...

today when i was listening to 叱o宅叱叱o宅, donald was talking about a show called 末日之後... i was very interested about that show and i try to google for more info... then i found out 末日之後 is actually a documentary movie called 人類消失後的世界 Life After People it's released back in 2008! then i found the DVD at Amazon.ca...

personally, i love to watch documentary about planets, about how the human race will disappear on earths- like the "the end of world" type movies are my favorite too~ i m very curious about how the earth being starts and ends... besides that, i believe UFO/aliens do exist.. and they will come to take over our planet someday... this week, i tried to make 數字排骨!! when i looked at the recipe, sounds very easy to make, but...... hehe..... the presentation was OK but it doesn't taste right... too salty this time... :p

~數字排骨 recipe~

材料:
　肉排 2 磅 (可用雞翼)
　切成 5 公分長塊

調味料:
　每一份調味品以1/2 cup 量杯為1 份
　1 份紹興酒
　2 份鎮江醋
　3 份糖
　4 份醬油 (生抽+老抽)
　5 份水

做法:
　1. 先將肉排出水，去血，去腥，洗淨後，再將所有調味料及肉排一起煮，煮沸後，轉小火再煮
約20 分。
　2. 待肉爛時，再開大火，將醬汁嬈成綢狀，注意要不時攪拌以免燒焦。
　3. 可先燙些青菜(如上海白菜，豆苖或菠菜)舖盤，再將肉排及汁淋在上方即可。

A month of learning

April is gone... haven't post new entry for a month already... becos there are no interesting things happened around me and most of all... i am LAZY!!!!

May is here, it's a month of learning...

i have to start learning few things:

1) to be independent- "on my own" period started...
2) to keep my immunity system strong and healthy- cos u know... H1N1 甲型流感 is attacking human races... this stupid flu made me washed my hand almost 50 times a day...being stressed when ppl cough and sneezed around me..... and the worst thing is that this flu made me canceled a NYC trip... which is really sucks...
3) to accept a fact: that almost everybody beside me are going on a trip or planning a trip to somewhere outside canada! only ME staying in toronto and doing nothing but waiting for them to come back and talk about their traveling FUN... sigh.... I WANT A LONG VACATION TOO!!!!!!
4) to cook - first target: 數字排骨!
5) photography (every wednesday after work) - class start May 13th... hopefully it will be fun and i wont fall asleep... zZzzzz

looking forward to Sat., since i will be picking up an early b-day gift from my brother :)

recently, a Chinese in Toronto got a 錯體鈔票; he said he found that bill while he's helping his daughter to unwrap the lucky money.... i just wondering, how can he notice that bill's "watermark" is wrong... he must be a VERY detail-oriented person.... or maybe he's just lucky... haha

on my way back home after work, i kind of having a similar experience... i noticed a 錯體車牌!!

i know the picture is kind of blurry but i did looked at the plate very carefully and i found the license number is embossed on an upside down plate!! see the crown icon is misplaced and "YOURS TO DISCOVER" phrase is upside down!! very werid :S

is that a fake license plate?? or it's just a 錯體?? or there's a new style for personalized plate??

ice cream feast

today we had an ice cream feast at work~ we had two flavors of ice cream: vanilla and chocolate; and the side dishes: blue berries, peanuts, m&m, banana (which i will never eat), cherries, black berries, whipped cream and chocolate syrup!!!

forget about the diet... we all enjoy this cool treat from our boss~ :P hehehhe

very warm and sunny today~ i hope the spring is truly here and summer comes asap!!!!

i mentioned i wanna wash my car, then when i woke up today, hun already brought my mini to have a car wash :) hehe...thanks hun

even though it washed but still have a lot of dotted dirt on the surface... b4 we were so worry, cos it's looks like rust... those dots appear to be orange rusty colour... but when i rub them with a wet cloth, it came off.... so i decided to get a buck of water and some clothes to rub those dirt off and help my mini to get a bit more shinny :) it's the first time for me to clean my mini with hands~ :)

after an hour of cleaning.... my arms are so tired.... but it's worth it~~ i m sure i will do more hand wash during summer time~

however, when i went online and see the weather forecast... they said the sunny day will only last til tuesday!?!??!?! omg... no..... :(

Movie Weekend

this weekend is free... finally, we dont have to hang out with friends or family... yeah!!! haha...

so i suggested to watch movies ALL DAY LONG~ let's do an Oscar Winner Movie Weekend :)

we watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Slumdog Millionaire and Revolutionary Road, after i watch those movies... i have a lot of feelings want to express...

Slumdog Millionaire, i didn't have any intention to watch it, until i found out it's the same director of Trainspotting plus it won 8 Oscars~! very impressive... Trainspotting was one of my all time favourite... i still have the soundtrack vol.1 and 2!! best music ever, the greatest Britpop collection :) i still remember the slogan of Trainspotting: "Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a starter home. Choose dental insurance, leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose your future. But why would anyone want to do a thing like that?"

Holidays with Tim Burton and Johnny Depp dont know y, i just crazy about tim burton's movies after i watched Edward Scissorhands again with hun and his family on X'mas day... hehe
i went to google burton's movies collections, got the list and i realized i watched most of his movies in the past... like:

EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (1990)- my all time favorite, most romantic dark fairy tale

BATMAN RETURNS (1992)- watched it during my childhood, never know who's tim burton at that time!

THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (1993)- that's the first time i watch tim burton's film by film cartoon, amazing, love it~

ED WOOD (1994)- i should watched that b4... not sure, but it's a black and white movie and johnny depp in it! hehe

MARS ATTACKS! (1996)- watch it with ar Him in the past, but didn't realize it's burton's film

CORPSE BRIDE (2005) and CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (2005) - just rent them to watch during this weekend! Corpse bride was like another nightmare before christmas but this time i watched the process of making this film, it's just amazed me and i love all the characters, i wish i can keep those puppets! haha... Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is kind of weird but i just love all the scenes and plots in it...i wish i m one of those lucky kids who can visit the factory and meet Willy Wonka!! very interesting film... :)

so that's the ones i watched... i really want to see the latest one called SWEENEY TODD!! once again, starring Johnny Deep and Helena Bonham!! i watched the trailer, i think it should be a great one, and it's the first time depp showing off his singing on screen too!!! haha... hopefully i get to see this movie in theater, but recently hun is really busy, guess i just wait for the DVD to release... :p

so end up, i didn't get to watch Sweeney Todd either in the theater or rental... i should rent it someday... my brother watched that and he said, Johnny Depp was kind of werid when he's singing and there are a lot of violence throat cutting scene i might not enjoy... haha... ewwwwww....

recently, i saw a movie trailer, it a Digital 3D movie from the director of Nightmare before Christmas, so i thought it's a new Tim Burton's movie... but then, i found out Coraline is directed by Henry Selick, which is the Visionary Directory of Nightmare before Christmas.... haha now i understand! this movie is based on Neil Gaiman's international best-selling novel - Coraline.

here is the plot of the movie: " A young girl walks through a secret door in her new home and discovers an alternate version of her life. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life - only much better. this year, we had two surprise bday party~ the first party, i got hun a chestnut cake which looks ugly and taste....ummmm... not good at all... i will never go back to that bakery again... so for this surprise party #2, i decided to make a bday cake by myself...

OK!! Strawberry cheese cake, i made one for him b4, that one doesn't taste as good... this is wat i made 2 years ago.... hehe

and these year, i find another recipe and i modify it a bit, hopefully it will turn out better

Easy Strawberry Cream Cheese Cake

400g PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

1/3 cup Sugar

2 cups COOL WHIP Whipped Topping
1 cup Punnet strawberries

Gelatine: 1 tablespoon and dissolved in 1/4 cup boiling water

HONEY MAID Graham Pie Crust (6 oz.)

Sliced fresh strawberries

Glazing Galentine: 1/2 tablespoon and dissolved in some boiling water

1) use an electric mixer to blend the soften cream cheese and sugar together
2) Pour in 2 cups of cool whip, mix them well
3) add gelatine and keep blendiing
4) put the punnet strawberries into the mixture and stir
5) spoon into the graham pie crust
6) put it into the fridge for 3 hours or until set.
7) decorate with strawberries slices and glaze it with the galentine
8) put it back to the fridge for 15 mins and it's ready to serve!

Hun, i hope u enjoy all the surprises that me and our fds created especially for your birthday la!!

feel so hungry when i woke up, maybe it's almost noon time... hehe everyone would sleep in during weekend right?!

then i went downstairs to see if i can find something to eat... i dont wanna have instant noodles again and i dont want to have campbell's chucky soup too... then i open the freezer, i found a box of lasagna alfredo... that's not my favourite lasagna, i like the beef one more...

anyways, i also found some bacon which left after i cooked the cream of pumpkin soup... so i decided to fry some bacon on a pan then microwave the alfredo lasagna...

put them all together and stir fry...

and here is my tasty Bacon Lasagna Alfredo! a easy and fast brunch, eh?!?!?

our boss brought some short cake and cookies for us as a treat, there are some icing for us to draw something on the cookies too~!
i took a cookie after lunch and i draw a heart with the pink icing... the cookie taste good... but i think it's a bit too sweet...

yea... we still have some napkins left from our company X'mas party~ hehe

this lovely card created with a lot of effort... and it also cause a CUT on hun's thumb... and he said he cut 7 print out to get 1 perfect pop-up for me.... awwwww this card it's priceless~~!!!

received another mail from MINI COOPER yesterday... there are two issue of mini international magazine!!

i haven't read those b4 and as i was flipping through, i realized it's not only an advertising material from mini cooper, it's a magazine which talks about traveling, introducing different culture in other countries/cities, such as: art and design, living style, music and most of all... A LOT OF NICE PHOTOGRAPHY!

so the two issues i got are #29 San Francisco and #30 The Ruhr Metropolis in Germany... very interesting and btw, they also included a CD which let the reader to enjoy the music from that city! very nice...

i m thinking should i order back a copy of #20, cos that issue is HONG KONG!!!

after work, a good fd treated me and hun for a dinner... haha...

it was a wonderful meal and we had great chat...

there's just too many things are more important than an expried relationship... if that person is belongs to you, u dont have to put special effort to make him/her to stay... if that person is not the one, no matter how hard you force him/her to stay, s/he would also slip away....

we will help u through this hard time and i m sure "you can do better than that"!!!

2009 is here... i wanna create a "to do list".... not necessary to be something huge... but i got to set some goals for myself to achieve...

these are the things come up in my mind at this moment...

1) improve my Mah jong attitude (牌品): after few years of practice, i still found myself having bad 牌品... how can i control myself from complaining, yelling at ppl and black face when i m losing?! i really need to figure that out...

2) apply for a part-time course: i wanna learn something, maybe photography or interior design or painting/drawing (hehe... i tried to study interior design few years ago, but i failed to complete the part time course... plus i wasted $1000 something....) i hope i can apply for some part time course during summer 2009

3) get some good quality clothings: dont waste money on "hi-bye" clothes (which means... doesnt last long... wear 1 or 2 times and dont even remember i bought it and one day found it at the bottom of my drawer)

4) let my hair grow longer: cos i wanna try to get them perm

5) try to call my grandma every nite: ummmm.... she said it's better than giving her a big present

6) organize my receipts and bills: keep track of my expenses... be organize...

7) wash my mini cooper: every 2 months (gas station carwash during winter time, hand wash it during summer)

8) keep excising: going to yoga class every weekend and play badminton with hun and fds!

9) learn how to cook: i need to get a little note book for the recipes from hun's mom... hehe

10) plan for a trip: hopefully i can do that with hun and fds...

that's all for now... i may add more later on.... hehe

FINALLY HERE LA!!!

when i got home after work, i saw the parcel sitting on the kitchen table!

i've been looking at this Canon powershot for a while! my fd has a pink one, i think it's a pretty neat camera... i did keep an eye on it's price for a while and told myself "if it drops to $150, i will buy it!".... and then a week ago, i finally saw a HUGE sale on this dc at futureshop.ca , it really drop to $149.99!!! haha.. so i decided to buy it, but this sales item only for web purchase... i couldn't do it at work, so hun help me to order it online!! hehe...

unfortunely, it almost took hun entire afternoon to do that order!! the futureshop site keep on having networking problems and he needs to call them again and again to fix the problems.... finally, they confirmed the order for us and gave us a free shipping.... so total comes to $169.49!! THANK YOU SO MUCH HUNNIE~ for spending so much time and energy to help me get this camera!!! muah!!

YEAH!! my new BROWNIE~ heheheehe...

I gave my old Sony T7 to my parents~ finally we dont have to fight for camera! haha

i check my mail box today and it's finally here!! been waiting for almost week and a half for that!

that's a Tooth Fairy Official Certificate Package...

i m going to give it to my best friend's baby girl ~ so that she can "deposit" her tooth, collect and keep them in record! haha....

our design & program development office always has dim lighting... every one has their own desk light but i think the huge window already provide us enough light supply during day time la...

and the most joyful time of the day was having my "lunchie phone call"

this year, i didn't get a birthday cake for my mom, i made something else... it's one of her favorite dessert... it's cream puffs! haha it's the first time for me to make it... but i m glad my parents enjoy it so much~!

let me show you the steps la~

1. add milk, water, butter, sugar and salt, turn up the heat til it boiling...

2. add flour into the mixture, remove from heat and stir it til smooth

3. add two eggs into the warm mixture and start to blend it

4. when it cool down a bit more, add two more eggs in and blend

5. mix well and smooth

6. space the mixtures

7. put into oven, turn the heat to 200c and bake for 25 mins

8. they are raising

9. all golden brown (but only 3 of them in good shape) let them cool down

10. make a little hole on top and pump in whip cream and it's done!!

the week after i got the mini, the weather wasn't that good... it continuously rain and snow~ but i need to get my mini's window tint during weekend, so i decided to take my car for the first shower.... (yes,i know the window tint has nothing to do with the exterior, but still... hehe)

so hun and i drove our cars to get car wash on last friday - Halloween! this is the first bath i took with the car... i took some pictures with my phone~

i never see such colorful car soap

like those neon signs.... haha

and next day... my mini finally got the window tinted!!!
